An elected Committee and a team of well-qualified staff led by a Manager run the Pre-School. The Committee is responsible for reviewing policy and practice, fundraising, the employment of staff and appraisal of the Pre –School Manager.
The Pre-School Manager is responsible for the appraisal of staff, contributes to and implements Pre-School policies. The Pre-School Manager and Staff are responsible for the operational aspects of Pre-School.
The Committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting in October and parents are informed of this in advance. The Committee undertakes fundraising throughout the year in order to provide for all art and craft materials, purchasing and replacing of larger play equipment, outings, presents for the children leaving to go to Primary school, fund Christmas and Easter activities and fund other topical events within the curriculum.
Parents are encouraged to support these events and join the Committee, without which, Pre-School is unable to operate.
How do parents help?
Pre-School aims to support parents become their children’s primary educators.
We staff to Ofsted standards, but also have parents help in the Pre-School 1-2 mornings every six weeks in the form of a parent rota system. This not only helps to maintain a higher ratio of adults to children, but gives parents the opportunity to take an active part in the Pre-School although we acknowledge that for some parents, this is difficult to achieve. However, this gives parents an opportunity to observe what happens here, and to talk about it with their children.
Parents are welcomed to:
- work in the Pre-School with the children
- assist with fundraising in a variety of ways
- play a key part of the management of the Pre-School by becoming a Committee member
What are the Pre-School’s policies?
The Pre-School has adopted a comprehensive set of policies and procedures, covering all the requirements of Ofsted’s National Standards. Copies of relevant policies are given to parents prior to starting at Pre-School in a Welcome Pack, but all policies can be viewed and are kept on the stage during session. Parents should feel free to consult them and to discuss them with staff members and the Committee.
